Abingdon Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Max Mondi’s scorching new play, Maybe Tomorrow, starring Tony Award nominee Elizabeth A. Davis and Younger’s Dan Amboyer. The play will perform March 15 – April 6, 2025, at the Mezzanine Theatre in the A.R.T./New York Theatres complex.
Maybe Tomorrow explores the complexity of almost a decade’s worth of relationship. Gail and Ben have everything: a new job, a new town, and a baby boy on the way. But as life’s troubles threaten to encroach, Gail escapes to the bathroom of the trailer—a room she’s designated as her “pause room.” As she withdraws from the world outside, the play poses haunting questions about reality and perception.
Elizabeth A. Davis, whose Tony-nominated performance in Once is the stuff of legend, brings depth to Gail. Dan Amboyer, who has appeared as Thad Steadman on TV’s Younger, plays Ben. Their combined stage and screen experience promises an unforgettable performance of a couple confronting the complexities of love, commitment, and self-discovery.
At the helm of this production is Chad Austin, Abingdon Theatre Company’s Producing Artistic Director. Austin’s directorial vision has been the driving force in getting bold and challenging works on stage. His leadership has seen Abingdon produce such high-profile works as Wade Dooley’s The Prompter, which starred Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons, and Alex Edelman’s award-winning Just for Us. Austin’s dedication to storytelling that finds relevance in the lives of today’s audience is reflected in his varied canon of work.
Experienced artists whose work has graced numerous stages make up Maybe Tomorrow’s creative team and are committed to presenting an engaging evening of theater. Dawn Chiang provides the lighting design, a talent that has lit many a stage, including her efforts as associate lighting designer for such Broadway shows as Show Boat and La Cage Aux Folles. Scenic design is the responsibility of Josafath Reynoso, who creates environments that add depth to narrative; he won the World Stage Design 2017 Gold Medal for Scenic Design in Taiwan for his production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.  Costume design is under the eye of Siena Zoë Allen, whose character costumes are highly praised, and Evdoxia Ragkou is responsible for sound design, making certain that sound aspects heighten the story being told. Production stage management is led by Allison Hohman, and casting is by Karie Koppel of Koppel Casting.
