FELLOWSHIP.

A hands-on practicum on a
global performing arts platform.

Not just an internship. A body of work.

Beyond an Internship: The Skene Exchange.

Most internships are designed to fill time; the Skene Media Fellowship is designed to build careers. We operate on an  Exchange model: we provide the platform, the mentorship, and the global network; you provide the curiosity, the research, and the creative execution.

This is a remote, 8–12 week Apprenticeship where the final grade isn’t a letter—it’s a published body of work that proves you can navigate the professional arts industry.

Program Structure & Academic Credit.

We respect the “hustle.” Whether you are finishing a degree, working a day job, or navigating a career pivot, our structure is designed to be rigorous but flexible.

Skene Media Fellows.

The Selection Process.

Because this is a high-touch mentorship, we are selective. We look for Fellows who possess a distinct point of view and a commitment to the Skene standard of excellence. We don’t look at GPAs; we look at the work. We value transferable talent as much as direct experience.

Once you submit your application, including your Proof of Craft, our team will conduct an initial review to ensure your voice or strategic lens aligns with Skene. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to a 15-minute virtual session. This is not an interview, but a collaborative strategy session designed to align your specific career goals with an upcoming Skene project.

If selected, we will issue a formal Fellowship Invitation outlining your project milestones, mentorship schedule, and start date. We review inquiries on a rolling basis; if a cohort is currently at capacity, we will hold your portfolio for consideration in the following season.

Proof of Craft.

When you reach out, please include the Proof of Craft corresponding to your chosen track:

How to Apply.

We are currently reviewing inquiries for our upcoming cohort. To be considered, please send an email to editor@skene.pub with the following:

The Skene Media Fellowship is a structured, project-based Practicum designed for educational and professional development. By inquiring, you acknowledge and agree to the following framework:

1. Nature of the Fellowship

This is an unpaid, volunteer-based educational residency. It is designed to provide Fellows with high-level mentorship, professional bylines, and a tangible body of work for their portfolios. It does not constitute an offer of employment, and there is no expectation of future employment at the conclusion of the cohort.

2. Intellectual Property & Bylines
  • Editorial: All content produced during the fellowship and published on Skene remains the property of Skene. Fellows will receive a permanent, public byline credit for their work.
  • Strategy/Research: Strategic plans, guides, and toolkits created for Skene are proprietary. However, Fellows are encouraged to reference their involvement and the results of these projects in their personal portfolios and resumes.
3. Commitment & Conduct
  • Reliability: While the program is remote and flexible, we expect Fellows to adhere to agreed-upon deadlines and participate in scheduled 1-on-1 check-ins.
  • Professionalism: Fellows act as representatives of Skene when conducting interviews or outreach. We maintain a high standard of professional communication and journalistic ethics.
4. Academic Credit coordination

If you are completing this fellowship for university credit, it is the Fellow’s responsibility to provide Skene with the necessary evaluation forms and contact information for their academic advisor at the start of the residency. Skene will provide the necessary oversight and signatures to verify your hours and project completion.
