Skene is a global performing arts magazine and creative platform dedicated to amplifying theatre, dance, opera, performance design, and interdisciplinary storytelling. We publish interviews, reviews, essays, and behind-the-scenes features that highlight the work of artists onstage and backstage across the world. Our mission is to foster visibility, cross-cultural dialogue, and accessible documentation of contemporary performance.

Skene Creative Media is an independent arts media initiative committed to global storytelling, creative visibility, and accessible arts journalism. We collaborate with theatre companies, festivals, universities, and cultural partners worldwide.

Josafath Reynoso Calvillo is a scenographer, educator, and author working at the intersection of performance, design, and cultural media. He is the Founder and Chief Editor of Skene and serves as Head of Scenic Design Graduate Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

Download approved versions of the Skene logo, wordmark, icon, and social media badge. Use only approved, unmodified assets. Maintain clear space around the logo equal to the height of the letter “K.” Do not crop the logo on square placements, and opt instead for the square “SK” logo. Do not recolor or distort the mark. III. Primary Color Palette.

Poppy red, ultra blue, and light gray are the official colors of Skene. Poppy red plays a major role in establishing our identity and should be implemented consistently in all digital and print applications. Refer to these HEX, Pantone®, CMYK, and RGB values for implementation. 

 IV. Typefaces.

Each of our official typefaces has a specific use. Together, they represent our brand while being optimized for ease of use across our publications. 

Arial Black

Arial Black is the base for the Skene logo with stylistic adjustments unique to our brand. Arial Black should be used as the closest typographic match when the official Skene logo is unavailable. Arimo is a web-safe Google Fonts acceptable substitute.

Raleway is an essential part of our editorial identity and serves as the primary typeface for titles, headers, and section markers. Its clean, contemporary design reinforces Skene‘s global, forward-looking voice. Raleway is a web-safe Google Fonts typeface.

Oswald anchors our information design, serving as the primary font for buttons, accents, tags, and other metadata. Its compact, contemporary form adds precision and impact to supporting details. Oswald is a web-safe Google Fonts typeface.

4. Brand Asset Usage Guide.

These brand materials are provided for press, partners, and collaborators who require official Skene assets for coverage, promotional use, or approved partnerships. Use of these materials constitutes agreement with the following guidelines:

  1. Use Only Approved Assets
    Only the logos, icons, and files provided on this page may be used. Do not modify, distort, recolor, crop, or alter these assets in any way.
  2. Maintain Clear Attribution
    All uses of Skene brand assets must include a visible credit to Skene Creative Media. When referencing published features or articles, link directly to the original page on SKENE.pub.
  3. Image and Media Attribution
    Images may be used for articles, interviews, and event programs with proper credit: “Photo courtesy of Skene,”  and should have an embedded link to https://skene.pub/ whenever possible.
  4. No Unauthorized Partnerships
    Brand assets may not be used to imply endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or affiliation with Skene without prior written approval. Unauthorized promotional use is prohibited.
  5. Editorial Independence
    Assets may be used for legitimate press coverage, reviews, or academic reference. They may not be used in materials that misrepresent our mission, values, or editorial independence.
  6. Prohibited Uses
    Do not use Skene branding for commercial merchandise, fundraising, advertising, or marketing without written permission. Unauthorized use may constitute trademark or copyright infringement.

SKENE, ENAT, and the University of Texas at Austin Announce International Collaboration for World Theatre Day 2026

SKENE, through its educational platform #skeneTEACH, announces an international collaboration with the Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral (ENAT) of Mexico, in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin. This initiative is part of the ENAT World Theatre Day 2026 activities, under the curatorial axis Expanded Stage, within the Artistic Workshops category.

The collaboration takes shape through two online educational offerings, free of charge and open to both students and the general public. Both activities are designed to strengthen professional tools in scenic design and to foster the exchange of experiences between academic and professional contexts in Mexico and the United States.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to training, fostering international dialogue, and supporting new generations of scenic creators beyond institutional and geographic boundaries.

The proposed activities are described below:

  • Date: March 26, 2026
  • Time: 18:00–19:30 hrs (6:00–7:30 pm CST)
  • Activity: Online: CV Workshop
  • Target audience: Current scenic design students and recent graduates interested in building or revising their CV and portfolio. Open to the general public.
  • Objective: Learn how to create concise, compelling résumés and how to select truly relevant information.
  • In partnership with the University of Texas at Austin, at least two professionals with extensive experience in scenic design will be invited to share key considerations when creating a CV.
  • Instructors: 2 people via Zoom/Google Meet
  • Maximum capacity: 25 participants (depending on registration)
  • Approximate duration: 2 hours
  • Requirements: Stable internet connection
  • Date: March 27, 2026
  • Time: 18:00–19:30 hrs (6:00–7:30 pm CST)
  • Activity: Online: Portfolio Review Carousel
  • Target audience: Current scenic design students and recent graduates interested in having their portfolios reviewed
  • Objective: Receive feedback from professional designers in the United States from various institutions or freelance practices
  • Instructors: 2–4 people via Zoom/Google Meet. Individual sessions via breakout rooms
  • Maximum capacity: 10 participants
  • Approximate duration: Individual sessions of 15 minutes. 2 hours total
  • Requirements: Stable internet connection. Existing résumé, portfolio (PDF or website), or draft
